The City of Benson is holding a Special Election for a vacated City Council seat. Two candidates have filed for the position.

The Special Election will be held on April 8, 2025 at McKinney's on Southside. Polls are open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

 

2025 ELECTION SCHEDULE

March 19, 2025 - Last day to pre-register to be on the election roster - register at the Swift County Courthouse

April 4, 2025  - There will be a public Accuracy test at 9 a.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.

April 8, 2025 - Special Election Day - Polls are open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

 

ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Absentee Ballots will be available starting February 21, 2025. You may obtain an Absentee Ballot at City Hall, 1410 Kansas Avenue in Benson, during regular business hours Monday - Friday 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays)

Other times you may obtain an absentee ballot will be Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Monday, April 7, 2025 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

McKinney's on Southside  -  300 - 14th Street South, Benson

Handicapped parking is available in the parking lot on the west side of McKinney's.

Municipal Elections
Municipal Elections are held on even number years.

Registration
Before you can vote, you must register. To have your name appear on the polling place roster, you must register at least 20 days prior to Election Day, or you may register on Election Day at the polling place. You may register to vote by completing a Voter Registration Application and submitting it by mail or in-person to the Swift County Auditor, Swift County's Election Official (mailing address: P.O. Box 288, Benson, MN 56215 or located at: 301-14th St. No., Benson, MN 56215). If you have moved, changed your name, or have not voted for four consecutive years, you will need to fill out a new Voter Registration Application.
